Rotor Gap Safety asrg location

Original poster: "Jim Mora" <jmora@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Hello All,

I am building my first ASRG with a DC variable speed motor for a three phase
DC coil. The rotor is 11". Is it prudent to position the safety gap to the
rearish side of the motor other than the more convenient (read wire
placement) front of the gap assembly. Thusly, in a total rotary crash, the
safety gap would be out of the line of flying debris. All will be drilled
and tapped to a half inch plate of aluminum. $3.00 5.5" JC Whitney muffler
clamps fit the motor perfectly :-)

Regards and Big Sparks,
Jim Mora
