Mylar caps are not all bad.  The ones in use at our local science museum
were designed by Stan Deyo has been running on an almost daily basis since
1988!  It was not a big performer giving perhaps 2 foot sparks with an ARSG
and small pig, however.  These caps are still in use now for the last year
with an MMC in parallel of similar value since I upgraded it to 4 foot
sparks. Show me an MMC with anything like that reliability.
