Could this be due to streamer loading? i.e. extra capacitance added to
the top load by the streamers.

360kHz to 255kHz is nearly a 30% reduction in frequency though, so maybe
something else is involved too.

	The behavior of an oscillator driving a resonant load (particularly one
which has a nonlinear relationship between resonant frequency and output
voltage) is very complicated and I seem to remember can result in
chaotic behavior.  Someone at UCLA worked out expressions for the
operation when they were trying to drive a cyclotron in such a manner
and found out that multi-valued operation could indeed happen,
particularly when the coupling was tight.  Have the paper somewhere but
can't remember where.
