The discrete driver is not needed.  The UCC3732X series is VERY reliable and
I have driven a full bridge of large IGBTs with 7000pf gate capacitance and
the driver chips stay cool.  They can handle 18A since they are paralleled
in my circuit.  Steve Ward also has had sucsess using these.  Are you
interested in a board?
