Hi, well that is what makes Tesla coils so much fun. first the electricity
goes where it wants, when it wants. I dont think we know a real lot about
why, but like my coil the first toroid i have tends to pull or lift up the
arc's so the general direction od streamers is upwards. there are a lot of
things that affect the "why" and every coil seems to have some of its own
nature. an example tube coils tend to have a brush like discharge, some tc's
have streamers that roll like rope, some are just all over the place, some
tc's like to hit the rail, some the ground. It's all geat stuff. cul brian
