...Or an x-ray transformer with the diodes removed so that it's output is
 >100kV AC. If you don't mind many 100's of lbs. of transformer, then a
decent sized x-ray tranformer plus external ballasting, then nothing beats
an x-ray tranny for an absolutely WICKED Jacob's ladder!
My 140 kVp, 500 mA Picker tranny will SELF-START a 12" arc!
