	After WW2 the surplus houses had a lot of 400 cycle transformers.  I
remember ads which said "conservatively rated for 400 cycles"!  I
suspect guys bit and had fun with dimmed lights and blown fuses.  Within
the past year I saw a similar ad for a 400 Hz variac.  Have a couple
here which are good for almost nothing except perhaps to regulate the
output of a LV filament transformer.
