If you look at a TC or a video in slow motion it usually seems to be one at
a time. However spark length in a TC is much longer than occurs with an
equivalent voltage direct current spark as the spark repeatedly builds on
the previous one. Look closely at the photo here (enlarge it to full size)
and you will see that in the wind the spark channel moves showing up to 13
parallel sparks. Presumably this is each firing of the ARSG gap. The spark
may then appear to arise from multiple points on the toroid or grounded rod
at the same time but actually occur in sequence.
