And, if you don't keep your wits about you, then, after a while,  you won't 
have any wits to keep <grin>

But seriously, the thermal effects on eye tissue occur fairly 
quickly.  This is not something where you'd want to be leaning over the 
bench probing with the multimeter.  It shouldn't be too hard to rig up some 
sort of sheet metal box to mount the magnetron on, with the probe sticking 
through.  Some (salt) water bottles could serve as an absorber to kill any 
box resonances.  While it wouldn't make the occupational safety folks at 
work happy, you could probably significantly reduce the RF hazard fairly 
easily.
