Terry: My commercial 60Kv pulse capacitors with 6" contacts and 1/2 Cu Yard
of size do provide more current than I can controle and do a fine job at low
or single pulse rep rate using a triggered pulse spark gap. This is fine for
use as a high voltage generator in research, My hand made oil/poly
capacitors with parallel 1" 22ga metal (12 ea) straps to carry the current
work very well up to 250 pps and take up only 2 cu ft of space and 2 1/2 gal
of mineral oil. I like this best, but tanks of oil are a mess and the oil
creaps out all the time. My MMc caps using 3 banks of .25u caps (1000v) in
series connected in parallel are only 1/2 cu ft in size and 20 lbs in
weight. This fun to use. They only have 22 ga wire leads and limited peak
pulse current capacity but are transportable small and no oil mess when used
to show the kids and neighbors in play.
