If your looking for H.V wire just find a couple of microwaves at a dump.
The thick red wire is usually 30KVDC and in some older models 40KV wire can 
be found on the magnetron.

I have used solid dielectric (PE) co-ax with the outer sheath and screen
removed, several types are available, try Maplins or any amateur radio
outlet. Make sure it is solid dielectric tho cos many cables use foam or are
