Have you tried that?  I generally optimize the phase for full power operation
and leave it that way.  Optimizing the phase for best results at low
power will give a poor result at higher power.

I suppose it's possible your SRSG is losing lock if the mains voltage
is dropping a lot, but this seems unlikely.
