Colored Stainless steel gazing globe usage!!!

Hi,

Was wondering if the color of gazing globes hinders the conductivity for 
arc output.

Also, will a  copper globe be okay for topload.  Will it corrode or tarnish 
and need high
maintenance to perform optimum streamers.  Thought i saw someone sealing 
one with shellac
and adding brass breakouts for constant arc points.  Thanks in advance.
