The AIEE publishes 11.9KV/inch between needle points in Air at a barometric
pressure of  760mm and 25 Deg C.

The rule of thumb that I've always heard was 1000 volts/1.1 mm.  This would
suggest 23 KV.  Maybe this rule of thumb applies to spherical balls or
silmilar electrodes.

Does anyone have any rough figures for volts/inch spark length for a single
impulse discharge
between sharp points (Marx generator) ?
