Jim,

Just get a MOT or two which saves you the mess of depotting.  You can
hack-saw off the secondary,  knock out the shunts and easily wind some heavy
wire in its place.  Also, not all of your filaments need to be powered by
the same transformer.  Using a couple of filament transformers will work
just fine.
