Subject: Capacitors

Hi Chip,

I am a mild enthusiast of Tesla's work. My real job is as an environmental
consultant. I am closing a manufacturing site that has gone out of
business. I have to dispose of five large capacitors because they contain
PCBs. I would like to find some one to use them rather than just
destroying them. These are GE Pyranol Capacitors with internal discharge
resistors; Model N92797; Cat No. 15F222;150 micro-farad; 575 volt; 20
KVAR; 60 cycle; 3 phase. They have never been used. They are spares that
were in the electrical shop in case they were needed.

 >From the environmental safety standpoint, an internet search for "PCB
safety" will reveal the historical data and the controversy over that
data. These capacitors are sealed and there has never been an allegation
that using them would pose a risk. When they are no longer serviceable,
the law requires that the oil in them be properly disposed. Each unit
contains 2.4 gallons of oil. The present disposal cost of this would be
$100 per unit.

If someone would like them, they are free. The recipient would have to pay
for crating and shipping. Each unit is about 18"x18"x5" and weights about
40 pounds. If there is any interest, I can send photos, refined shipping
costs etc. For anyone in Massachusetts or northern Connecticut, I would
probably deliver them free.
