A new beginning

Hello all, My name is Art, I am getting ready to build a coil, I have built
one in the past and had ok results, but now I am striving for perfection!
the old coil put out only 17" streamers, but was using thin wire and a
bunch of alligator clips, and so on, the capacitors I built were platecaps
in oil, had good luck with them they never failed, until the ex-wife threw
them across the shop ( catastrophic capacitor failure? ). below is my trend
of thought, I figured I would toss it out here to get some feed back and or
answer a few questions "?" and see if I am heading in the right direction.
Oh yea, by the way, The "Fantastic Plastic" coil looks awesome! :-)

12/30 with a 4.5 x 25.25 sec:

1) Feet of wire on a 4.5" x 25.25" coil, with #22awg wire, is the thickness
of #22awg .0253"?, 1000 turns aprox.

(Radius*pi*(length of coil/.0253))/12 = Feet of wire?

Set Feet = 588

2) .418 Mhz Frequency Secondary coil, Or .209Mhz?????? I found 2 formulas
and 2 answers? I am thinking .418 Mhz sounds right?

3) Transformer Impendence Z=V/I (12000/.03=400,000)

Set Z = 400,000

4) C=1/(2 x pi x Z x .00006)

Set C= .0066uf -at- 1- 12/30

5) Reactance of capacitor: XC=1/(2*pi*C*F)

Set XC = 57.727272727272729074996825817448 -at- .418Mhz?

Set XC = 115.37983405241071173617787688308 -at- 209 Mhz?

6) Inductance needed for Primary coil:

L=XL/(2*pi*F)

Set XL = XC

Set L = 22 microhenries -at- .418Mhz?

Set L = 88 microhenries -at- .209 Mhz?

The Primary is going to be flat, placed on a round piece of wood sealed
with polyurethane and pvc supports, also going to be a 1" margin from the
inner most turn on the Primary and the Secondary coils. The diameter is
22", I need 22uh for a 12/30 -at-418 Khz.

(A) Average Radius in Inches, 7"

(W) Width of Coil in Inches ,7.5"

Number of Turns in the Winding 12

I am going to use 1/4" od copper tubing spaced 3/8"

The inductance is 50.95uh, Over kill??????? or a good margin for error?

The Secondary will be sanded, and sealed inside and out with polyurethane,
before and after winding. dose the ends of the Secondary have to be caped?,
or can the ends be left open?

Is the frequency of the Secondary coil high?

Is there a relationship between Secondary coil frequency and coil output?
Or is it just the relationship between the primary tank circuit being in
tune with the secondary or vice versa.

For now the topload will be just regular old dryer duct 4"

I am going to use the Geek Group bucket cap. To connect the electrodes to
the top terminal can I connect all the electrodes together and run one wire
to the top terminal ( to much resistance? ) or connect each electrode to
the terminal? I have an abundance of flat ground strap 1/4" wide would this
be a good choice of wire? Also I drink Bud and I noticed that The Geeks say
"Corona is best", Should I change my brand of beer?

RF Chokes I am thinking about winding #22 awg on 1-1/2 pvc 6" in length. is
the wire to thin? is the choke to long or short? xxx uh?

The Safety Gap will be placed after the RF Chokes but before the Static
Gap? any other NST protection circuits needed?

I do have 3, 12/30 Xformers all from different manufacturers, is there
anything I need to be aware of before I hook all 3 of them up, besides
adding more capacitance and re tuning the primary?

And last but not least, Is there any coilers in New Jersey?

Thanks in advance

Art

PS: there is a fellow that spins torids that are really cool looking, I
need one for my TC how do I get in touch with him?
