I did a project on coupling coefficient and streamer output, I just moved
the primary coil up and down so it would be different heights in relation to
the secondary and would change the value of k.

There's some kind of complicated theory and calculations involved in it
though. Also I built my coil with an adjustable primary which helped alot, I
don't know if you have that capability?

Another good project could be finding the experimental best size of toroid
with the same coil, you could get into how it's capacitance affects the
tuning of the whole thing.
