It might have been me.  Here is some data for a two MOT dual voltage doubler
with no load, except for the bleeder resistors:

volts     amps
  80          0.5
  90           1
100          2
105          5.2
110          6.2
115          7.2

With my 4 MOT supply, I keep the primary voltage below 100 volts, which is
about the point the core starts saturating.

With your larger commercial MOTs, core saturation might be at a higher
voltage - why not make some measurements and see?
