Yep, should be, the other teletype motor that was common was a series or
universal motor(with brush holders) and some had a govenor switch. Not very
strong motors but had to be 1800 for the gears to have the right ratio for
50,60,66,75,80,100,110 speed ascii or baudot(8 or 5) colume data.
the navy even used one at 35 speed baudot. most of the people who had to
listen to them and watch the typing could write the message by hand!
it was so slow but long pulses made for easy copying in bad recieving
conditions. also there was another set of gears if you were running on 50
cycle instead of 60 cycle(hertz). cul brian f.(who played and fixed them for
10 years as a hobby)
