Variable capacitor

I forget at the moment who it was that last brought up
the topic of a variable capacitor for "live" tuning, but
I just had an idea along those lines...

Such a thing might be feasible, if one were using a
saltwater cap. Imagine if you will, a standard saltwater
cap, BUT have a non-conductive object within the brine,
that can be raised and lowered by a threaded plastic shaft,
to vary the displacement of the brine (and hence, it's level
in relation to the outside electrode) , varying the total
capacitance between it's full possible value, and say HALF.

... just a thought.
