I run a similar ASRG.  Make the gaps as close as you dare.  If your angle
grinder is like mine (cheap!), there will be some axial "play" in the
bearings.  This contributes to catastrophic electrode collisions for really
close spacings.  I added an external bearing with a shaft to press on the
center of the grinder shaft to eliminate the axial play.  (I did this after
first experiencing a collision disaster!).

Use tungsten electrodes if you run more than one KVA.  I started with brass,
but it erodes, vaporizes and coats nearby stuff with a yellow film of brass.
