Re: The "subject"

The Geek Group addressed this problem on our own list a few months ago. We
came up with a system that allows for easy mail sorting and thread following
with little effort, Meta Tags :)

On Geeklist all subject lines are given a meta-tag for what area of interest
it's in, then a regular subject line follows. As long as people remain
diligent about keeping the subject lines on track, it works great. It's like
this. On Geeklist the subject lines look like.

[IT][Linux] RedHat 7.3 Valhalla release!!!!!!
[Geek-3]Rewire Completed
[Board][Admin] Fundraising

The entire system of tags is:
[Admin] Administrative
[Lgl] Legal Team
[Fun] Stupid things of general interest (riddles, etc)
[Audio] Audio Recording and Production
[Tes] Tesla Coiling
[Comp] Computers
[IT] Information Technology (usually networking or large computer things)
{Cult] Geek Culture
[UET] Urban Exploration Team
[Gen] General interest
[Geek-X] (where X is the unit number) Geekmobiles
[Luge] Streetluging
[Req] Request for Info
[Veh] Vehicular Sciences
[PHY] Physics
[ELEC] Electronics
[CHEM] Chemistry
[Thon] Teslathons (we host 2 large ones a year)
[Bio] Biology
[Demo] Demonstrations

I believe it was Phil who invented the system for us, and we've been using
it with wonderful success for months.
