One should distinguish between what's legal (labelling, registration, etc.)
, what's ethical (taking someone else's work and benefitting, if only by
saving you the work), and what's worth prosecuting (use for
remuneration)....

The entire entertainment industry (a veritable snakepit of vipers with
regards to intellectual property)  is full of people who are keenly aware of
the distinctions between the above...

I, personally, think that one should strive for what's ethical....

Don't steal, give credit where due, and respect the creator of the work.


Oddly, last week, I just had a discussion with my eight year old daughter
about what plagiarism is, because they are discussing it in class (a good
thing...)
