Re: Mini VTTC--Possible tubes?

Matt,

If you want a small and relatively cheap tube coil, I would suggest
using an 811A tube. You can find them for $12.00 a piece on Bay, and they are
usually brand new Chinese versions. They are weaklings (very electrically
fragile), so do not over volt them or exceed their maximum current ratings,
because they will die. Fortunately, because of their cost, you can probably
afford to learn from some mistakes. That way you can gain experience, and
hopefully will not to blow (flash over, or burn a hole in the plate) a nice
810 or 833A. If this tube is too big for you, (I don't know how it could be
if you want any output at all) I have made an ultra mini tube coil using two
24G tubes (they are SOOOO small). They have a plate dissipation of 25 watts
(YIKES! That's low), but they are cute little dudes. Anyhow, good luck.
