Weird transformer found, please help!

Hi!

Few days ago I got this weird transformer and I thought could it be used
to power tesla-coil.
Transformer weights 40Kg
Secondary coil is center-tapped to core

I took some pictures of it, they can be found at:
http://server.sonkajarvi.fi/~mikko.l/transformer/

The label of transformer gives following information:
-Mercury vapor lamp stabilizer
-Line volts: 220
-Line amps: 16
-Class: B
-Lamp KW: 3,0

I did some measurements & calculations, please can someone check did I do
this right:

- I ran this xformer with 10VAC, I measured output of 110V.
  (=Input: 230V, Output: 2530V?)

- Label says that Max. lamp wattage is 3KW, so this could be used as
  xfromer output power?

- I used calculated voltage and assumed output power to calculate output
  current, I got 1,19A

I have used NST's only, and I'm worried about low output voltage of this
transformer.
The reason why I would like to use this transformer is that NST's burn
easily.

Could this transformer be used to power tesla-coil?
If yes, I guess that static spark-gap should not be used?

I appreciate any kind of help!

Thanks.
