I have managed to wind a successful flyback transformer.  It puts out about 
12kv with my 21v psu.  I wound about 25 layers each about 1.5" wide with 
28awg!  I know its thick but i had it on hand and really didnt have much to 
loose.  And it worked!  Just as good as the ones i bought from Fair Radio, 
but more current on the output.  I used printer paper for the insulation 
between layers.  I would have made it better but i ran out of room on the 
core.  Maybe ill wind another with 30awg and on a larger core and get a 
beefy 30kv flyback, that would be pretty nice.  I know this doesnt deal 
directly with a power transformer, but reading this reminded me that i did 
wind this flyback.  I was also very interested in winding my own TC PSU but 
never had the materials (mostly the core), but now with the successful NST 
rebuilds, i dont think i want to wind my own.
