Wait a minute.  If the top and bottom coils are joined at the center,
the two coils NEED to be wound in opposite directions - one CW spiraling
inward, and the other CCW spiraling inward.  Or put another way, one CW
spiraling inward, and the other CW spiraling outward.

Hi James ,
  The direction of the winding is important, if the first layer is CW
and
the 2nd layer is CCW
then you have a precision resistor with no inductance.
