You can get a good idea of what your coil will do by clicking on the "on
line operation" JHCTES Ver 3.3 program at
    www.mgte-dot-com
Click on TESLA then JHCTES

The inputs are the minimum needed to obtain a reasonable picture of what
your coil will do. All of the inputs are easy to determine except the
primary average radius (Rp) and the the Width of Turns assuming you are
using a spiral. In general adjust the Rp to give you the Pri to Sec
clearance (an output) you want. Adjust the Width of Turns to give you the
distance between the primary wires (an output) you want. The outputs will
then give you the other primary parameters you need to know.

The secondary inputs are easy to determine except the Secondary Term pf.
Terry's ETesla6 program will give you the best estimate.
You can also start with an estimate of about 15 to 20 pf. Adjusting this
parameter will vary the operating frequency of the coil and change the
number of turns for the primary. With this program you can easily design
many Tesla coils that will give you the characteristics you desire.

Whenever changes are made you have to click on "Calculate" to have the
computer find the new outputs.

It has 4 inch dia., 24 in height, 24 inch toroid (hope it works), and
probably 12kV input.
Caps will be from 6-12 beer bottles
Thanks a lot- oh I dont need an exact number, just a range- I dont want
anyone to calculate it for me :)
