First light - the whole works

Hello Coilers,

A nice cool day with low hunidity was just too much for me to let
pass by, so I decided to try the whole package together that I've
been working on for the last month.

It's my old standby coil with a 4" x 22" secondary, 0.0258 uF MMC,
and 10/92 OBIT stack for power. The frequency is about 243 kHz.,
and the new stuff is the triggered Vortex Gap (Gary Lau's design)
using a GM HEI coil with the modified dimmer circuit that brings
out the neutral and needs no dummy load resistors.

As you can see, I'm running very close to resonant cap, but a Terry
filter seems to keep the nasties at bay. This combination ROCKS to
put it mildly! The noise is unbelievable...sounds like a chain saw
with no muffler, and the light show is something else. I'm getting
multiple long and thick streamers now, and it's a breeze to adjust
the triggering angle with the dimmer to optimise them.

I've got too much stray light in the shop to accurately gauge what
the streamer length is, but I'm guessing they're about four feet,
which isn't too bad for 920 watts input power! I'll get a better
idea after dark. It looks like the Vortex Gap with triggering out
performs my old 7 segment RQ/TCBOR gap by a signifigant amount.
