Well Terry, 
    You can certainly bring up fun topics.   My most expensive coil was my 8
inch one we fired up in Oct.  I estimate the total cost was $200.  I scrounged
most of the stuff from the bone yard at work.  The only thing purchased was the
wire for the secondary and the mica pulse caps which were $150 for the pair. 
    I have collected enough stuff over the  years that I can now make coils for
free,  I don't know if that counts because some of the stuff was bought in the
past at ham fests, surplus stores etc.
