The first things a lot of folks are going to say is they want more info. How
are the caps connected? I assume in series to lower their value. Even so,
your cap value may be too high for your power supply. As well, it sounds
like your primary may be too short. Where does the coil tune? Close to
either end? .5 of an inch for the spark gap sounds too wide to me, try it
closer. With my coil the biggest performance increase came from making a Lau
style vacum gap. Very cheap and took me 3 hours to make, and made a HUGE
difference in performance.
