hi fox...

that would work but you will need resistors that can handle the voltage
rated for the secondary output
of the MOT.... and also the rating will need to handle the watts produced
by the secondary...   finding
10ohm 1000W 5000V resistors isnt all that easy ( unless you become creative
and improvise ;)  )
