Motor spec???

Good evening list, I have run into a small problem with a motor that I have
converted to sync. First I wanted to see if I could do it, (it worked) but
looking at the specs I ran into a bit of confusion when deciding if it was
suitable for a gap motor. It is a western gear corp. model 291u4, 115 vac,
1600 rpm, single phase .75uf cap start. it has four wires etc... But the
horsepower spec is listed as "Var."
Which is variable I presume. What can I expect from this thing? Will it draw
more current (that spec is left blank) as more torque is needed? and can
anyone hazard a guess as to what it's hp rating may be? the body of the
motor is about 4.5" in diameter(including heat sink) and 6" in length. it
was used as a fan motor from an old tube type frequency counter from the
mesozoic era that had a 9 digit nixie display. Any help would be
appreciated.
