SRSG mods

Hello All,
I've got a couple new (?) ideas to throw at you for SRSGs.
Couldn't the disk be replaced with a rod of good thickness??? Lexan rod 1"
thick has a really high strength and only runs $7.50 per foot from
McMaster-Carr. If your motor can do 3600 RPM, this will make balancing a
snap. Also, you could simply put set screws in from each end and get a
superior grip on the electrodes.
A good addition to John's phase adjuster circuit would be a small array of
neon bulbs mounted permanently on the front of the motor, facing the rotor.
That way, you could see where the phase is best, and rotate the motor to
accomodate it, thus making phase adjustment temporarily obsolite.
Another realtime phase adjustment scheme: Wrap a cog belt around one end of
the motor and use a strong stepping motor to rotate it in the (loosened)
cradle as the coil is in operation. Kinda like how the RAT coil rotated it's
primary.
How about putting another disk (or rod, bar, etc...) on the other end of the
shaft of a motor (pending it has a long enough shaft). Then, you could put
the two rotaries in series. This would keep electrode wear down to an
absolute minimum.
Just something to ponder..

Ciao,

-Mike
