Hi Mark,

Tesla coils can generate a lot of radio frequency noise that can get back into
the AC line, especially on nearby stuff.  This interference can lock up things
with complex electronics.

I would suggest unplugging the box when you are using the coil or look for line
filters and such.  The real problems would came if the thing's settings got
scrambled or if real circuit damage was done.
