Practical Ozone

Original poster: "default by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-uswest-dot-net>" <moya-at-primus.ca>

Hello All

I can't begin to "thank you guys" enough for the feed back on production
of ozone.

I knew from reading that the most efficient way to produce large amounts
of Ozone is by HV discharge - After reading up on the net and inquiring
about commercial Ozone generator (Whow$$!!) - I sought after a means to
produce Ozone my self - Then I recalled reading a post on a TC several
years ago (bingo!) Ozone!! - So you see this is what brought me to start
a crash coarse in coiling - Even had to dig out that old math book w/
notes still tucked between the pages.... and wondered what was I
thinking back then..

Ozone is by far the best solution to treat water locally, not to mention
it is environmentally friendly as compared to chemicals - I suspect
stock in the Chem companies would fall through the roof if all water
application were treated by Ozone (pool, spa, drinking, ect, ect).

For the curious here is a link www.dagua-dot-com/eng/index.html to a
commercial Ozone company - It took me three days and several e-mail to
get a quote from these guys - But never the less they have good
information on water treatment w/ Ozone.

When this Ozone project is finished I will start to work my first TC
coil should have all my Corona bottles by then unless I find a good deal
on MMCs but not likely - I thought the 6.50$ for the Digicom was steep
but when I checked on the alternative Wima they were even more.

With all the feedback I am quite confidant that a solid Ozone generator
will be implemented by mid summer.

I will depot a 15 kv neon and place that puppy in xmf / mineral oil for
added protection

A note on depotting the neon using the cold / cook method - It was by
far the most efficient not to mention (cleaner) method - Compared to
the hot cook method that opted to try the first time (what a mess)!

As long as your careful and don't get carried away one should be ok
using the cold cook method - Most of my xmfs had extra protection on the
secondary some kind of cardboard jacket so that was my stopping point -
The most difficult part was freeing that tar baby from the case.

Question some of the neon's have a cylinder wired between the primary
leads is this some sort of thermal switch?

Final thought on depotting with the C.C method if you don't have an up
to date Tetanus shot you will soon have one that's for sure!! - I have
an up to date shot so some alcohol and a piece of elastic to close the
gap and I was good for another round!

Once again thanks for the help!

Cheers

Tom
