Antonio,

Its a digital artifact due to "sharpening" techniques such as
PhotoShop's Unsharp Mask or the optical equivalent. It's a
form or contrast enhancement that affects high contrast
borders (such as a bolt against a dark background) and
produces the effect you observe.
