Hi Kamil,

The equations are the same for air and iron-cored inductors. The effect of 
the iron is to "short
circuit" more of the magnetic field. Iron is more permeable than air. That is 
why large value inductors
like filter chokes have iron cores.

I find that a good college level physics text will give a better explanation 
than will an EE text. A good
high school physics text can also have a good explanation along with the 
derivations of the
equations.  Hope this helps.
