Phil,

All the teletype motors I've seen are the correct type for sync rotary
use.

At least some of the teletype motors do require a cap.  Some require
a rather large cap.  I don't know how to calc it.  You could just try
various caps and see what works.  You may need as much as 80uF
I think (or larger).

 3) The motor has three wires in addition the case ground and I'm not
 about the hookup.

Some Teletypes need a relay that disconnects the cap after the motor
comes up to speed.  The cap is just for starting.  These starting only
caps tend to be the larger ones.  You could use manual switches instead
of the "relay" switch to start it....but it's not as convenient.  Perhaps some
teletypes have a start switch inside the motor....I don't know.

Generally the red wire gets hooked to the cap.  I forget the other colors
offhand.  Maybe someone else will report the colors.
