I have a very large (12" diam) ceramic insulator which I wanted to use
for coil top. My solution was to go to a nearby tile and marble cutting
outfit and have them drill it for me. Since it was an expensive and fairly
rare-size item, IMO it was well worth the $35 charge The diamond-dust coated
Dremel bits would have cost me almost as much, and if I broke it, tuff stuff
(They would pay to replace it if they broke it) . If you just gotta do it
yourself, use new, sharp bits, go VERY slowly and don't try to drill the
finished size to start with, use incremental bit sizes.
