RE: Draco Specifications

Joshua -

A few comments regarding your new coil design. I compared your WinTesla 3.2
outputs with the JHCTES Ver 3.1 outputs with the following results.

1. The turns/inch should be 1040.59 turns divided by 18 inch length equals
57.81 TPI.

2. The secondary terminal should be 20.5 pf to obtain the 204.59 Khz
operating frequency. However, I believe the 15 inch toroid will only have an
effective value of about 12 pf when mounted in the secondary coil. This will
give you an operating frequency of 245.28 Khz.

This will not change much of your original design. It does mean you will
need only about 12 turns in the primary winding. If you have 15 turns you
will have plenty of adjustment for tuning.

You can download the JHCTES Ver 3.1 Tesla coil computer program at the
following web site
    http://home.san.rr-dot-com/jcouture/tesla

Some computer systems have trouble downloading the program which is a Visual
Basic type that rquires microsoft Win 98. I will soon have this program on
another site where you can use the program without having to download it.

Good luck with your new coil.

I think I've pretty much covered everything so far. Anyone have any
suggestions, hints, tips, etc? Help would be appreciated. Also, are any of
these specifications unfit for their job? I'm kind of thinking the coil form
is too wide... But besides that, is this a good design? I'm looking for
someone to point me in the right direction. But of course, I haven't yet
obtained any parts, so, as I said last time, I can 'drift' on my design
quite
a bit. By the way, have I forgotten anything necessary? (I designed this
using WinTesla 3.2 if anyone is curious.)

Thanks,
- Joshua
