My very first properly working TC used a pair of these in
series. When one eventually (but inevitably) died I opened it
up to have a look. Here is what I found:

- *thin* wires going from each end of the series'd bank to the
connecting terminals on the case.
- rolled individual units with 2-3 thin wires connecting one
unit to its mates (i.e. not extended foil with a parallel
connection to all parts of the foil).

- the same transformer and capacitance which got me 20" with
those units (on a good day) subsequently delivered in excess
of four feet with a better coil design and more importantly,
an extended foil cap.

Regards,
Malcolm
