Hi!

Polystyrene is what is referred to as an amorphous polymer.  It has
excellent electrical properties but in general has rather poor chemical
resistance to anything but aliphatic materials (alcohols, mineral spirits
and the like).  Polystyrene may do OK in mineral oil but not so good in
materials containing benzenic (aromatic) materials and the like...Chemical
exposure can also give rise to environmental stress crazing and loss of
clarity, swelling and mechanical deterioration.
