Synchronism

Yes, It's me again ; )
I have a question about DC TCs...
If you have a power supply that has a high current, say 300 mA, with a
reasonable voltage, 12kVdc, and a MMC with a capacity of .03uF, couldn't you
run your coil in synchronism using a non salient pole motor? A break rate of
120-150 bps would yeild synchronism right?
I liked Greg Hunter's MOT supply, but I also noticed that he blew his MMC. He
was using seacors with a dv/dt of 4000. I think, since he was using an air
blast gap, his brak rate went as high as the transformer would let it, thus
over-discharging the caps. He said they "blew up" on his webpage, so I'm
guessing that heat built up in his caps (which have a plasic casing might i
add) then they simply exploded.

I'll be using a similar setup with a MMC with a dv/dt of 2700... However, If I
keep the bps limited with a good rotary gap, then my MMC should keep nice and
cool. Right? Also, a good safety gap would be necessary to keep the MMC within
it's voltage rating.

Does anyone on the list have a pair of identical MOTs complete with capacitors
and diodes they would be willing to part with? If not does anyone know of a
source for them? Here in LaCrosse, WI where I live, the city is kinda anal
retentive about their junk. We don't have a scrap yard within 60 miles of my
house : ( When people throw away stuff like microwaves, they have to pay big
buck to get rid of them, but the city doesn't let me take any "off their
hands".
If you can help me out with this, contact me off-list at <

Thanks everyone,
