    Hello All,

        I just recently got an old 40 amp variac and stripped it down to
the core.  My question is do I need to put a .125" gap in the core if I am
using a 5 KVA pig.  I may at times push the pig further than 5 KVA but I
don't think beyond 35 amp input current. I will probably stay at 25 amps.
BTW, the primary voltage rating on this pig is 14.4 KV.
