Welcome to the list.  A number of us have built vacuum tube Tesla coils,
I've gotten 38" + sparks so far, using multiple tubes.  I've also experimented
with pulsed or intermittent type operation for energy savings and an
interesting spark appearance.  These tube coils are power hogs though 
due to the continuous wave operation.
