I wouldn't use formvar if I was paid. The only stuff I look at is 
modern stuff like polyesterimide (polythermaleze). Formvar has a 
habit of cracking off wire all on its own as it ages. I have rewound 
a number of transformers with formvar coated wire.  If you want to 
get the most from a transformer for short periods, significant 
temperature rise is quite tolerable. It also makes the coil setup 
rather portable. I still wouldn't use PE, especially between the 
primary and the core. Look at what real manufaturers use. :)
