Re: "condensers"

Hi Robert, All,

Nope, not quite. Sorry to disapoint you, but:

Depending on ignition design (points, standard transistor, cap discharge),
they are used either for noise (or spark on points type) supression or as a
low voltage (relatively speaking in TC terms ~300-600V) high current storage
device.

So you can´t use these for TC service.

And no ignition circuit in the world sees "Mhz´s" of Rpm pulses!! (Not even so
called "sports cars" like Ferrari or Porsche, Uuuugh !!). This makes these
"caps" unsuited for TC usage, too.

Wonder how many that would be on a good old 350 Chevy V-8?

(Okay: For Bart and Bill: How many revolutions of their Mopar cranks)

Coiler greets from germany,
Reinhard

        hi all,
The last couples days there has been some discussions about
using auto ignition coils for a beginners coil......

.This got me thinking about using automotive condensers for TC use.
has anyone done this? I would think they would be cheap & sort of
 "designed" for the application.
 Robert
