As long as old men are reminiscing, in my youth (shortly after B.Franklin's
experiment),when the weather was right I could draw a steady 1/4 inch arc from
the TV antenna wire (roof antenna) to the water faucet. In my youth I also
built a 1/2 wave tesla coil (not tuned) without any torroids at the ends. It
gave a thin foot long spark between the ends. Has anyone built a 1/2 wave coil
with torroids? Seems like this would avoid the grounding problem. I know
people have built 2 coils that act as a half wave coil.
